The fine print, kept readable

Privacy policy

The short version: we collect the minimum needed to match you with a licensed contractor, nobody gets your number until you pick, and nobody pays us for placement.

What we collect

When you submit a request: your project description, the trade, your zip code, your timeline and budget band, and an email address so we can send your shortlist.

When you favorite a contractor: the favorite is saved in your own browser (localStorage), not on our servers.

When you use "Near me" or "Use my location": your location is read by your browser to find the nearest covered city. The coordinates never leave your device, only the city name is used.

We do not run ads, ad trackers, or third-party analytics scripts.

How we use it

Your request is shown, without your name, email, or phone number, to licensed contractors so they can raise a hand for the job.

Your email is used to verify your request, deliver your shortlist, and tell you when something changes on it. Nothing else, no marketing lists.

Who sees your contact information

Nobody, until you pick. When you choose a contractor from your shortlist, that contractor, and only that contractor, receives your contact details. Contractors you did not pick are told the job is taken and see nothing.

Our business, disclosed

Oregon Trade Finder is free for homeowners. Contractors pay a flat subscription to see jobs. Nobody pays for placement, ranking, or badges, every listing comes from public Oregon CCB records and is presented the same way.

Contractor listing data (business name, CCB number, license dates, city, phone) is public record from the Oregon Construction Contractors Board and the Building Codes Division, refreshed from data.oregon.gov.

Cookies and storage

We use a session cookie only where sign-in exists (contractor and operator areas). The public site sets no tracking cookies. Your theme preference and favorites live in your browser and can be cleared any time by clearing site data.

Third-party services

The contractor map loads tiles from OpenStreetMap when you open it. Email delivery uses our mail provider. Neither receives your request details beyond what is technically necessary to render a map or deliver a message.

Retention and deletion

Requests and shortlists expire and are kept only as long as needed to run the service and its quality processes. Want something removed sooner? Send a message from the contact page and we will delete your request data.

Children

This service is for homeowners and contractors, not children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.
